| Another iconic work that was part of Susan's Astrological calander, published by Pomegranate Publications in 1989. Libra is often refered to as "The Balance". In this piece the balance is symbolically represented by the Sun and Moon. (The Sun enters Libra at about the time of the year when day and night are of equal length). This is also the time of the harvest when farmers are weighing the fruits of their labors. Balance is further represented by the white spirit bird and the dark Earthly bird that wrap the sash over the eyes of Justice. Other imagery includes the Lotus which blooms with sunrise and closes and submerges in the evening. Antlers adorn the central character's head. In mythology the Deer is highly symbolic and often takes on aspects of the God during the harvest season. This original piece has been re-framed with an antiqued silver fillet and frame, re-matted with acid-free materials and re-glazed w/conservation clear UV glass.
